How to apply
The following instructions must be adhered to when submitting an application for accreditation.
- Provide a copy of the school travel plan and reviews (if the plan is over one year old)
- Provide a copy of the appropriate application form for the level for which you are applying with each criteria ticked
- This copy must be signed and dated by the relevant school travel advisor*
- Provide a copy of all evidence required for that level to the relevant School Travel Advisor
Questions should be directed to your local school travel advisor in the first instance. Accreditation marks will be awarded in July each year prior to the end of the academic year.
*An application will not be accepted without being signed by the school travel advisor.
sustainable level
The School Travel Advisor will provide details of 'sustainable' accredited schools to the TfL School Travel Team who will coordinate the accreditation scheme.
A 'sustainable' award is valid for one year only. Schools must reapply each year with a copy of the current review or a rewrite of the plan.
higher standards level
These applications must be submitted to the TfL School Travel Team.Your School Travel Advisor can do this for you or you can download them.
A 'higher standards' award is valid for two years. Schools will be reminded to reapply every two years.
outstanding level
These applications must be submitted to the TfL School Travel Team.Your School Travel Advisor can do this for you or you can download them.
An 'outstanding' award is valid for three years. Schools will be reminded to reapply every three years.
